Student Travel Grants
Travel grants of up to $1500 are available to full-time graduate and undergraduate students. Please submit an application form for student travel grants directly to the China Institute for consideration. For organized tours or study programs, please submit only one application for the entire group.
Applications must include the following:

Supporting statement from Chair, Dean or Director of program

Purpose of the visit, including expected outcomes
-
Dates of travel
-
Budget
-
Application form
Initiatives considered:
-
Summer Study Abroad Programs
-
University organized travel/study tours to China
-
Travel to China to attend conferences that are beneficial to the student’s area of study

Travel to China for research related to the student’s area of study
-
Priority will be given to initiatives that involve some dimension of China scholarship, and/or that show linkages between China and Canada
Terms of funding:

Expenses that will be covered include:
-
A report following the visit must be submitted to the China Institute within one month of the travel dates

Travel expense claims will be prepared by the China Institute following the submission of original receipts

It is the responsibility of the grantee to obtain health insurance for the term of the visit

For group proposals, funding will be given directly to the Faculty to disperse to the students
Review Process:

Students that have already received substantial grants within the last year from the China Institute will not be eligible

Students will only be considered for one travel grant per year

All applications will be screened by the China Institute. A peer-review process will provide the China Institute with recommendations

The review process will take up to six weeks
Applications will be accepted three times yearly
