Special Faculty Initiatives
Proposals for special faculty initiatives that will increase the level of understanding of China, and promote institutional linkages between the University of Alberta and China, will be accepted. Please submit your proposals directly to the China Institute for consideration by the deadline indicated below.
Applications must include the following:

Supporting statement from the Dean

Purpose of the initiative, including expected outcomes
-
Budget
-
Funding that will come from other sources. Priority will be given to those initiatives where additional funding for the project has been secured or requested
Initiatives considered:

Conferences with partner institutions in China, either held in Canada or China
-
Missions that would help with:
-
Hosting of visiting scholars from partner institutions
-
Special lectures on China related topics
-
New projects with partner institutions
Terms of funding:

Claims for any travel-related expenses will be prepared by the China Institute following the submission of original receipts

Expenses that will be covered include:
-
A report must be submitted to the China Institute within one month of completion of travel

Research projects must be set up through the Research Services Office by the grantee
-
It is the responsibility of visitors to the University of Alberta to obtain health insurance for the term of the visit
-
It is the responsibility of the researcher to obtain all required ethics approval in advance for research involving human subjects and/or animals.

Grants must be used within the fiscal year that they are approved
Review Process:
Applications will be accepted three times yearly
